The President's speech lasted about 2 or 3 minutes....It was exactly 272 words. The speech was divided sharply along partisan lines...not well received by nearly half of those who heard it. One side saying this is the right thing to do and must be done. The other side crying vehemently in opposition to what the President proposed. The actions of the speech had already taken place. It was irreversible yet one side refused to accept it. No I'm not talking about President Obama and today's partisan quibbles between Democrats and Republicans. I'm talking about a war that divided a nation which created a valley; still separating both sides to this day - exactly 150 years later. Some things never change....when will both sides accept one another?
